Michael Hoar

Founder & President

With more than 20 years of experience advising clients across both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, Michael has built a career at the intersection of brand strategy, social impact, and corporate partnership development.

Michael launched Mission + Market Advisory after two decades in senior corporate partnership roles with leading national nonprofits—including Save the Children, Special Olympics, and the USO—as well as mid-sized nonprofit in the public health and education spaces. Throughout his career, he has led teams to deliver sustained double-digit growth in corporate partnership portfolios, securing high-value alliances that fuel both mission impact and business results.

Before entering the nonprofit sector, Michael spent more than a decade as a Managing Director at DDB Worldwide in San Francisco, guiding major brands such as Levi Strauss & Co., The Clorox Company, and AT&T. This deep brand-building and marketing foundation gives him a uniquely strategic, market-driven perspective—one that has become increasingly essential as corporations elevate cause marketing within their ESG and purpose agendas.

Michael holds an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and a BA from the College of the Holy Cross.
